FAWM 2007

Every February is Album Writing Month. Why? Because Burr says so. Christopher has completed the challenge of writing and recording 14 songs in 28 days twice. Almost half the songs from It's Hard Not to Be came from FAWM 2005, and the (eventually) forthcoming New Dulcinea was the focus in 2006. This year's progress is at http://www.fawm.org/writers.php?id=165, where you can hear all the songs until March 31.

July 2006 Demos

The ludicrously talented Bob MacConnell was kind enough to leave his stamp on three MENBAH! classics last summer. His lead guitar stylings make me feel woefully inadequate, and listening will do the same for you.

Christopher: Vox, rhythm guitar, bass guitar, drum machine, mixing. Bob: Lead guitar, ridiculously cool vibe.

Other stuff

The greatest songs by MENBAH! can be found on It's Hard Not To Be (Songs, 1995-2005). That album is your one-stop shop for indie-pop wondrousness, and you can hear samples and/or buy the album at CDBaby. In case you happen to like shopping at multiple locations, here are some songs that were almost included but ultimately not.

Solo stuff available elsewhere

  • OverClocked Remix is a community of people who do covers and/or remixes of video game songs. Christopher contributed "Prayer," a remix of "Aerith's Theme" from Final Fantasy VII. Vive les nerds.
  • Brad Sucks hosts a remix Christopher did for him, called "Dirtbag (menbah arena mix)." Scroll down to the "Remixes" section and look for it. While you're there, listen to Brad's other stuff, which is cool.
  • Songfight is a weekly songwriting competition where they provide the titles (they being Spud & JB) and you write the songs. Two songs from It's Hard Not To Be began their lives here.
